Hey.About Thomas Pullert and his photographic work

I’m Thomas Pullert, a photographer based in Cologne. My focus is political reportage: I accompany members of parliament, candidates and campaigns — on the campaign trail, at public appearances and behind the scenes.

I work in a documentary, unobtrusive way, usually with a small Leica. No staged scenes: I wait for the moment a situation becomes honest — a glance, a gesture, a brief pause.

Preparation is part of the work. Before every assignment I clarify the schedule, the setting and what the images need to achieve; when necessary, I step in and reorganise. The space belongs to the people in front of the camera, not to me.

In post-production I care about the atmosphere that was actually there. My ambition is images that stay with you. I live in Cologne and work across Europe — for politics, editorial teams, companies and NGOs.
